The arrest was taken on April 20 and was validated by the judge who issued a precautionary order. This was explained by the Naples prosecutor Giovanni Melillo in a meeting attended by police chief Franco Gabrielli and the inter-regional commander of the Carabinieri Vittorio Tomasone.

In a Telegram chat, the man said he was "on a mission" and asked to "pray" for him.

During the interrogations carried out following the arrest, the man admitted to having personally overseen the audio-video recording of the oath and said he had received via Telegram the request "to launch a car against the crowd ", while confusingly adding that he had never really intended to follow up on the project of attack. The video was made at the reception center for migrants in Pozzuoli where the Gambian had been housed for about a year.

Prosecutor Melillo urged not to emphasize the extent of the episode, praising the work of law enforcement in full harmony with the power of attorney.
