Mass Nigerian arrests for 'homosexual acts' in Lagos State

More than 40 men have been arrested in Nigeria over the weekend for performing homosexual acts, police say.

Their case has gone to court all because they don't have money. Is it their fault that they were born like that? why will politicians punish people for love, what they can't change I thought they said God created all of us, and why is bobrisky seen in conference with these so-called politicians? Does the law not apply to him? I'm just saying: stop the hypocrisy.

On the 31 july 2017 Nigerian newspaper Punch reports that the police raided a hotel in Lagos State on Saturday afternoon and says the hotel was cordoned off while the investigation was carried out.

Homosexual acts are punishable by up to 14 years in jail in Nigeria, while gay marriage and displays of same-sex affection are also banned.

The event that was raided was to raise awareness about HIV testing in the gay community in Lagos, activist for gay rights in Nigeria Bisi Alimi told reporters.

Nigeria has an influential Christian evangelical movement in the south and strong support for Islamic law in the north, both of which oppose homosexuality.

Since Nigeria passed a law criminalising same sex marriage and gay organisations in 2013, law enforcement agents have cracked down on people suspected of homosexuality. However, arrests are infrequent as homosexual people live in hiding.

Gay people live in fear and cannot openly express their sexual orientation. They are not protected by any law so they face discrimination.

Northern states under Sharia - Islamic religious law - have the death penalty for people convicted of same-sex offences which in other states carry a 14-year jail term.

This is not the first arrest for engaging in acts of homosexuality but so far prosecutions have never ended in prison. Poor homosexuals are been killed or thrown in jail while bobrisky has being celebrated and everybody want selfie with him even VIPs.

It's no longer abomination when you have money, you can even pay offering and tithes, as long is bobrisky no problem. I'm sorry bobrisky, I'm not against you. It's your life and I respect it.

I'm just trying to point out some people's hypocrisy, especially the christians who are still hanging on the old testament that was written more than two thousand years ago. The same bible said in new testament that "old things are pass away".

The bible didn't say some things are pass away in old testament. This is 21st century: God created us all, not some. This is the wickedness of man, not of God.

If they are so evil like the religious leaders will want us to believe, God wouldn't have created them in the first place. Because it is not written anywhere that when God create any evil, humans should fix it. Stop the hypocrisy
