Nigeria government responsible for crashes on road, says UTQEN Ogun State Chairman

The Ogun State Chairman, Union of Tipper and Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTQEN), Chief Babatunde Ajayi, has blamed governments for incessant fatal crashes on the road.

Chief Ajayi spoke at the annual public enlightenment rally organised by Ota Unit Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in conjunction with Shell Nigeria Gas for motorists, especially articulated vehicles at Iju Tipper Garage in Ogun State.

He noted that FRSC and other traffic agencies usually blame the driver and vehicle owners after road crashes forgetting that government failed to provide the infrastructure for a safer transportation sector.

“Apart from the bad road networks, all moving trucks, trailers and tippers are outdated, and the Federal Government has done nothing to restrict the importation of fake spare parts.

“Nothing stops government from wooing articulated vehicle manufacturers to invest in the country.’’
