BREAKING: Buhari donates 'remaining' nomination form funds to young aspirants

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged groups and individuals still interested in contributing funds towards his expression-of-interest and nomination forms to channel them to supporting young candidates.

He said this in his message after receiving the forms bought for him by his support group, the Nigeria Consolidation Ambassadors Network (NCAN), on Tuesday, at the State House, Abuja.

The President, who stated that "Nigeria is blessed with talented and visionary youth who have a lot to contribute", noted that the candidates "may not be able to afford the nomination fees" set by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The forms cost N45 million.

Revealing his intention in a series of posts via his Twitter handle, Buhari said: "Nigeria is blessed with many talented and visionary youth who have a lot to contribute. Many of them may not be able to afford the nomination fees set by our party. The contributions of willing individuals & groups will go a long way in supporting the next generation of leaders.

"I have therefore requested that any remaining funds raised to buy my presidential nomination form be used to support these young, competent and dynamic future leaders."
