Vote in Russia: Putin president for the fourth time with over 70% of the vote


According to the results of the presidential elections in Russia, when it was scrutinized 60.8% of the seats Vladimir Putin triumphed with 75.6%. The "zar" is thus re-elected president for the fourth time. 

In second place the candidate of the Communist party Pavel Grudinin with 11.2%. Nationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky followed with 6.7%, Ksenia Sobchak with 2.5%, Grigory Yavlinski with 1.6%, Boris Titov with 1.1% and Serghei Baburin with 1%

The data were published by the Vtsiom state-owned polling center with a sample of over 160,000 people, 55% women and 45% males.

Putin: "Success is our destiny" - "Thanks to all our supporters for this result: success is our destiny". Thus the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, greeted the victory in the elections. 

The Russian president explained that "enormous challenges await us, we must solve the problems of the nation, we need a change". 

Putin then added that the result "means that what we have done in difficult conditions in recent years has been approved, as well as what we are doing, what we have proposed: I hope that the political forces are trying to think about the good of the country before to their advantage ".

Putin's spokesperson: "Thanking Theresa May" - Putin's campaign spokesman, Andrei Kondrashov, thanked British Prime Minister Theresa May for increasing voter turnout. 

"The turnout is higher than expected by 8-10% and for this we have to thank Britain because once again did not understand the mentality of Russia: every time they accuse us of something unfounded the Russian people unites at the center of the force and the center of the force today is certainly Putin, "said Kondrashov, alluding to the case of the poisoning of the former Russian spy Skripal.
